We hope you had a lovely summer! After a well-deserved break, the team of Mundo de Talentos is preparing a new exciting program for its students. We can’t wait to see them in September!
Last school year has been a challenge for our students, their families, guest teachers and our team. But we are happy to share with you how we have been able to keep on offering live classes during the pandemic. Lot’s of activities were organised, and we celebrated special moments together before summer holidays.
At the end of April, our third-year students participated in theMundo de Talentos´ Talent Fair. During the last module of their 2,5 year-program, they investigated a profession or career that had their specific interest. Guest teachers coached the students accomplishing their investigations during four sessions of hard work and questioning.On the day oftheTalent Fairthey presented their investigations in the presence of their families, who were impressed by the results, presentation skills and creativity!Thepublic learned about robotics, Mexican gastronomy, the traditional liquor Posh and its medicinal use in the Highlands of Chiapas, among other topics.
In June Mundo de Talentos welcomed this group of graduates to theMundo de Talentos Alumni Project.The alumni will participate in more activities focussed on their personal development related to study subjects and future possibilities. During the first session, an Organizational Committee of six alumni, was formed. From August 2021, they will get together once a month with their tutor to work on organizing inspiring masterclasses for their fellow Mundo de Talentos Alumni.
Our second-year students ended their school year with the module of Social Science.With the educators of Educreando A.C. our students learned about how to get organized as a group and defend collective water resources in the neighbourhood.During another session the studentsreflected on gender stereotypes of various professions together with a pedagogue and sexologist.What about a female mechanic or soldier or a male dancer or stylist? How do you see this and what does it have to do with our own culture and history? Are we able to change these notions?
The last session with this group consisted of a festive closure, celebrated in the presence of their families in the beautiful park El Encuentro. All participants made a piece of art of natural materials through which personal messages of gratitude to Mundo de Talentos were expressed.
Our 2020-2021 educational cycle has ended with these moving and inspiring last sessions, which leaves us with great expectations for this new school year. We are excited to be initiating a new generation of students in September and hopeful to have to deal with less covid19-related restrictions.

Mundo de Talentos Report - April 2021
Due to rising numbers of covid19 infections in Chiapas after the Christmas Holidays, Mundo de Talentos decided to go back to offering digital classes again in January and February of this year. Through WhatsApp and Google Meet sessions, our second-year students practised all kinds of arts like painting, dancing, theatre and drumming. During the last class of the Arts module they met online with a professional singer who invited the children to form an online harmony. Through sessions with employees from the LEGO factory in Monterrey, Mexico, and the Space Observatory in Chile the third-year students learned more about exciting professions like Astronomy and Industrial Engineering.
It was good to keep on meeting online, but we also noticed the fatigue amongst our students of having to attend to virtual classes. For over a year kids have not gone to school in Mexico which has a huge impact on their well-being and the well-being of their families.UNICEFand the Dutch paperNRC写它。它激励我们更像a team to continue to meet in person with our students!
Luckily, in March, the state of Chiapas went back to code green in relation to covid19. This made us decide to return to live sessions. The second-year students met with various architects during the module of Architecture and designed maquettes of their own dream houses. This was extra fun because they used LEGO bricks, donated by LEGO! Recently the students kicked off with the module of General Medicine. So far, they met with a psychologist and a veterinarian. The session with the psychologist showed us the importance of this topic in these times. Our students are in need of sharing their emotions and feelings after being at home for such a long time. In the coming weeks they will further explore this module.
The third-year group is on its way to graduation from Mundo de Talentos. During the last module the students will investigate a topic of personal choice that has their specific interest. Students have decided to explore different styles of architecture, dig into Mexican gastronomy by studying the various sorts of mole (Mexico´s famous traditional meal) and get to know more about the healing power of a locally brew liquor, calledpox, among other topics. We will see the results of their investigations at the end of April during theMundo de Talentos Talentos Fair. May 15thwill be a special day! After participating in our program for almost three years, the first generation of Mundo de Talentos students will receive their diploma during theMundo de Talentos Graduation Ceremony.
In June, after graduation, we will inaugurate theMundo de Talentos Alumni Project. After three years of learning about all kinds of professions, while practising various soft skills, Mundo de Talentos will continue to offer workshops and activities. This way the alumni will continue to develop themselves and will stay involved. This group of alumni will grow bigger and bigger during the coming years.
Normally we visit public schools in San Cristóbal de Las Casas to invite new students. Due to the pandemic this is not possible. So, before we say goodbye to our third-year students, they helped us to make avideoinviting a new generation to participate in Mundo de Talentos!

2020 has been a very particular year for everyone.More than once, have we had to change directions and work modalities at Mundo de Talentos.The context of the pandemic has demanded much greater flexibility and creativity from us than last year.
On the one hand, the Coronavirus has limited our activities this year.On the other hand, the complex situation brought Mundo de Talentos many new positive experiences. New contacts, new work locations, new types of activities and new ideas that we can further develop in the future.
Due to the covid19 pandemic, schools in Mexico have been closed for almost 9 months and students receive classes online or through television. Working with our own concept, outside the official school system, allowed us to make the decision to continue offering face-to-face classes combined with WhatsApp sessions from September. Therefore, we developed our own health and hygiene protocol.
The effort of Mundo de Talentos to continue offering face-to-face classes is commendable as it continues to create a space for meeting and exchange between girls, boys, guest speakers and our team. For both the students and other family members, Mundo de Talentos provides an alternative environment from being locked up and crowded together at home. As one of our students said:'I used to feel a lot of anger. Mundo de Talentos has helped me to get rid of my anger”.
In 2021 we will continue our efforts with our current students, and if the covid19 context allows us, we will be inviting new students to join the project very soon. Also, in May 2021 we will celebrate the graduation of the first generation of Mundo de Talentosalumni.Our goal is to create a strong Mundo de Talentos community by continuing to engage our alumni through courses and master classes, to further empower them in discovering future career opportunities and welcoming them as guest speakers one day.Starting in 2021, we will begin to develop this newMundo de Talentos Alumni program.

After some weeks of holidays and with new energy the team of Mundo de Talentos is preparing school year 2020-2021. The students are very motivated and excited to return to classes of Mundo de Talentos!
On August 24 school started again in Mexico. Due to the pandemic, education is still offered through television broadcasting and online classes. Step by step life in Chiapas is getting back on track. From September 26 we will start offering our program to the students where we alternate face-to-face and distance classes. Schools in Mexico are closed since March 23. The team of Mundo de Talentos is very happy to be able to make a significant difference for the students during these times by continuing offering face-to-face classes.
因为大多数父母合作贷款ir cell phone to their children, during the phase of the lock-down between April and June 2020, Mundo de Talentos chose to use Whatsapp to continue with the planned 15 sessions of vocational orientation. Including the topics 'Corona Virus ´and the modules of Social Sciences, Environmental Care and Extreme Jobs.
Together with the guest teachers we prepared the sessions with interesting content. Both written and audiovisual with topics for discussion and challenges. We tried to consider the different family contexts of our students, e.g. regarding the use of materials for the implementation of the challenges. At all times challenging activities were offered that motivated the reflection and creativity of the students.
We are happy to share our experiences and those of the students by sending you a brief report ‘Mundo de Talentos in the context of Covid19’.
During these past months we have been able to carry out very inspiring sessions of genuine and active participation, of imagination, creativity, expression and closeness. The goal for Mundo de Talentos is to keep offering our motivating program to the students and to continue to inspire them to be creative, investigative and curious children.

With the official kick-off in January 2019, Mundo de Talentos´ project was carried out in a very satisfactory way. For both students and their parents and the team of Mundo de Talentos this first year has been a positive and inspiring adventure. We are happy to share a sample of the first year results of the program and will continue with the activities in 2020 with high expectations.
Mundo de Talentos (www.mundodetalentos.mx) offers free vocational guidance through an intensive three-year program that takes place every Saturday in San Cristóbal de Las Casas, Chiapas. Children between 10 and 13 years old from public schools are selected to participate. Passionate professionals share their work experiences and invite students to learn in a participatory way about possible career opportunities. The sessions are held both at the Pequeño Sol school, and by means of excursions at the workplace. The program covers 15 modules during the 3 years including Technology, Sciences, Arts, Journalism and Medicine among others.
The students are very enthusiastic about the program. Their parents mention that during the week they can hardly get up to go to school, but on Saturdays they get up early and are ready long before they have to leave their homes to go to Mundo de Talentos. A father mentioned that he feels that his son´s world has opened up since he started participating in Mundo de Talentos. One of the students wrote the following after completing an assignment of reflection:
“I really like the experience that I’m having at Mundo de Talentos”
