One-third of Bangladesh's delta region remains under water, and 300,000 individuals in India's Bihar state have been evacuated to relief camps. This fund will provide immediate relief to survivors and support long-term recovery.
The 2020 monsoon season has brought another year of devastating floods to India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Myanmar. The COVID-19 pandemic further challenges response efforts and puts those evacuated to relief camps at risk. Prolonged flooding and extreme landslides have damaged infrastructure and, in some cases, affected the government's ability to provide humanitarian relief. As the climate crisis worsens, residents in high-risk, low-lying areas bear the greatest impact.
All donations to this fund will support recovery and relief efforts for flooding and monsoons in South Asia. Initially, the fund will help first responders meet survivors' immediate needs for food, fuel, clean water, hygiene products, and shelter. Once initial relief work is complete, this fund will transition to support longer-term recovery efforts run by local, vetted organizations in the region.
