Dear friends,

We are excited to announce that we are heading back to Brazil this December to plant fruit trees! This project will be a continuation of our efforts in the state of Sao Paolo to reforest urban areas with native and productive fruit trees. Our friends and partners in Brazil have been working diligently to grow seedlings that will be ready to plant in just a few short months at local schools, parks, and families' backyards.

To follow along and see our work in action, follow us onFacebookandInstagramwhere we regularly post updates from the field. Please consider also sharing this project with your friends and family so we can continue this important reforestation work!

Muito obrigada (thank you very much),

The FTPF Team

Ola friends,

FTPF is proud to share that our last project planted 5,001 (yes, exactly!) trees in Brazil! As part of our commitment to reforesting the town of Mococa in Sao Paolo state, fruit trees were planted in public parks, schools, and families' backyards.

This project is a joint effort with our local partners at O'lho d'Agua, who assist us with propagation and monitoring of the trees at the nursery, selecting and coordinating project sites, and with community outreach and aftercare. This is an extremely dedicated group of people who first came to FTPF over a decade ago with the vision of seeing fruit trees lining every street and every backyard--something that a generation ago was normal in this tropical climate. Now, thanks to them, our team at FTPF, and the support of donors like you...this dream is closer to becoming a reality than ever before.

But we can't stop now. We are already making plans for planting another several thousand fruit trees at the end of 2022. Please consider donating today to support this work to bring the many beautiful benefits of fruit trees to Mococa!

Muito obrigado,

The FTPF Team

Planting at a Brazilian school in November 2021

Dear friend:

We hope this letter finds you healthy and happy this holiday season! In November 2021,we planted fruit trees on four continents to symbolize our commitment to planting tens of thousands more at those project locations during the coming season. All with the goal of helping create a world full of abundance, in which food forests fill public parks, community gardens, schools, hospitals, and backyards to ensure everyone has access to organic, sustainable, perennial nutrition right at their fingertips. A place where families enjoy picnics under the shade of thriving fruit trees, breathe the clean air they generate, watch birds and wildlife foraging amongst the canopy, and are asked only to bring an appetite for the fruits growing overhead. A world in which we come together in collective selfless action to plant trees now so that future generations can benefit from the beauty and bounty they provide.

在今年,我们兴奋的receive updates from previous planting partners as well as formal recognition from local governments such as Los Angeles County and Mococa, Brazil, where trees from our programs are now providing thousands of pounds of fruit for communities. Every year, we share a couple of these stories so you can see exactly how you are making a difference each and every time you support our work (many more examples can be found on our social media sites throughout the year).

Orchard update"A food forest is the only way to describe our campus ... an oasis in an urban desert. A place where butterflies, bees, birds, and all manner of wildlife frolic and dance among the seasonally changing colors. A place where one feels at peace, where the rich smell of ripe figs, guavas, loquats, and apples perfume the air. Every school deserves to be a food forest."–Eddie Cortes, Horticulture Specialist at Environmental Charter School in Los Angeles, which received an orchard donation in 2008 as part of our Fruit Tree 101 program

Orchard update– “We recently had an elder pass by and mention he hasn’t seen fruit trees like ours in years, we picked a ripe apple and gave it to him, grateful that our urban orchard can inspire and delight."希瑟Fenney,研究主任保罗Robeson Community Wellness Center in Los Angeles, where each tree is producing about 20-25 pounds of fruit

We are excited to report that in 2021, we planted and distributed 43,825 fruit trees in six countries(美国、乌干达、萨尔瓦多、危地马拉、Brazil, and Peru). We often remind community volunteers that once we plant trees together, we are friends for life—and we are so grateful to have made so many friends this year. We know this is true for those who support our programs in other ways as well, including our donors, who make all this work possible in the first place. We are so very grateful to have you as a friend for life and hope you’ll consider contributing to our upcoming projects so we can create a beautiful “fruiture” together.

Please donate todayknowing thatfor the eleventh year in a row, more than 90 cents of every dollar contributed was used in our life-sustaining tree planting programs.

For a greener, cleaner, healthier planet,

Cem Akin, TreeEO & Co-creator

Dear friends,

We are excited to announce that the Fruit Tree Planting Foundation's project in Brazil is scheduled for November 2021!

FTPF has been working in Mococa, Brazil since 2013 to support the reforestation efforts of the town, schools, and individual families. With our local partners at O'lho d'Agua, we grow thousands of fruit-bearing trees and plants, focusing on varieties that will thrive and provide for this unique part of the world.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support this project through your donations here on GlobalGiving. If you are able to give, please consider doing so to help make this project a success. On behalf of our partners and participants in Mococa, thank you for believing in the power of fruit trees!

Ola friends,

In celebration of Earth Day and Arbor Day, FTPF is excited to announce we will be returning to Mococa, Brazil this year to plant thousands of fruit trees with schools and families!

It has been a couple of years since our team has been able to visit the region, so we are really thrilled to be launching a 2021 planting campaign. Although we are still in the planning stages, we will likely be in the field in November-December of this year. Our expert team will plant thousands of new trees, as well as collect data and perform aftercare on thethousands of trees already planted throughout Mococa.

This project is one of our most successful, with a very high survival rate and amazing stories of schools feeding their children fresh fruits and native birds returning to once barren lands. Please follow along on ourFacebookandInstagramthroughout the year to see live photos from this and our many other projects around the world!

Gratefully,

The FTPF Team
