The Experiencia Visionaria is a collection of three complimentary programs that bring quality education to schools in rural areas of the Cusco Region, so that adolescent students who have had their education affected by the pandemic, commit to their personal development and take action to fulfill their visions of success for themselves and their communities.
In Peru, the educational system has been declared in emergency. During the pandemic, poor teacher preparation and students' limited access to quality education were evident, resulting in high dropout rates. In addition, the gender and connectivity gaps became more acute, especially in rural areas of the country. Considering that 3.2 million of the Peruvian population are adolescents, providing them with an educational experience that fosters their leadership is essential.
The Experiencia Visionaria brings quality education to adolescents in rural areas by working with their educators, who receive pedagogical training and support to design transformative, gender-aware learning experiences that include empowerment and leadership content, promoting the interest and strengthening the self-confidence of students to create social impact projects that propose solutions to the problems of their interest.
Improved and quality education in the Cusco region is the long-term impact of the Experiencia Visionaria. The commitment of 300 adolescents from rural areas to their personal development, their sense of agency to make decisions and their leadership to take on the challenges and vocational, work and entrepreneurial opportunities that arise will be the fruit of a quality education system in conditions of equity .
