Summary

The pandemic placed a huge financial & emotional weight on the Atlanta-area, single-parent college students HOPE supports. Our students fell ill with the virus, cared for others who were sick, & lost employment due to the pandemic. HOPE responded by providing additional support in the form of groceries, cleaning & medical supplies, paying utility bills & offering emotional support. Even as the country begins to open back up, many of our single parents are still struggling & need your help.

Challenge

Our 10 HOPE families have been negatively impacted by COVID-19. Even as some participants return to work, the financial & emotional effects are still being felt, & their families need your help. As our country begins to open back up, we are asking you to REDIRECT HOPE by donating money you would normally spend on expenses like dining out each week, trips to the salon, or daily bistro coffee, but due to COVID, have learned to live without. We can live without many things, but not without HOPE!

Solution

REDIRECTING HOPE funds support the ongoing needs of HOPE families. With your donation, we will continue to provide funds for groceries, utilities, & missed income due to the pandemic, keeping single-parents & their children out of an even bigger potential crisis. We will also provide our normal services ensuring parents can continue their college education. Without your help, some HOPE parents may be forced out of college, never to return, making it virtually impossible to emerge from poverty.

Long-Term Impact

The project ensures 10 Atlanta-area low-income, single parents and their children who have been negatively impacted by COVID-19, have the emergency resources they need to stay out of crisis. It supports the parents while they are enrolled in online college courses, allowing them to work toward degree completion, keeping them on track for graduation, and breaking the cycle of poverty. The project protects the progress they have made toward their education, increasing their chances to graduate.
