Summary

According to the US Department of State, 8 million Americans live overseas. While it is unclear how many of these families have pets, we know that approximately 30% of the victims we serve have pets in their homes while domestic violence is taking place. That is about 150 pets per year that are exposed to and experiencing violence in the home. Each year we provide food, shelter, airline flights, crates, medical examinations and basic needs for dozens of pets.

Challenge

American victims needing to escape back home to the USA for safety from domestic violence need to bring their pets with them. American Embassies are not able to include pets in repatriation loans. This means pets must be left behind with the abuser in the home. Our organization not only pays for the victims airline tickets to flee home, but with this project, they don't have to leave their precious furry children behind.

Solution

我们将能够提供服务来近似ly 150 pets annually. Approximately 20 of them will need relocation back to the USA with the others requiring food, shelter and temporary foster home support while the victims are fleeing danger either in the foreign country or back in the USA.

Long-Term Impact

We will provide services to 150 American victims with pets in approximately 50 countries while they are fleeing violence. Our goal is to have all of them reach safety with their pets and live their lives without violence in their homes.
